Hello I’m Nia! I am a freelance artist and illustrator from Wales. I make art based on en plein air and reportage illustration.
My work focuses on nature, I love to go out on a drawing adventure, especially in my local Welsh countryside. I try to draw attention to the little details we might overlook in everyday life, like wildflowers or a pretty sky.
I use art as a way to explore new places and deepen experiences. I always feel more connected to a place when I’ve drawn it. My goal isn’t perfection, instead it’s to capture the feeling of being in a place. I hope that my work encourages other people to go out and explore nature as well.
Experimentation is a big part of my creative practice. I like to play with new mediums and techniques. My favourite mediums to work with are felt pens, watercolours, water-soluble crayons and monoprint. My creative process is often very fast-paced and messy, I focus on quick, intuitive mark-making and layering mediums.
